Kayla’s play, Lilith in Pisces, will be running at the Hudson Guild Theater as part of the New York Theater Festival’s annual SummerFest 2019! Kayla will be performing the role of Erin in the 70 minute story of two women who discover that a shared history and astrological sign might just beget a kind of bond they never knew they needed. Kayla will be performing at Dancify That!, a comedy dance game show in which contestants put their bodies and wits to the test of transforming bizarre snippets of pop culture into dance sequences. Our House is Haunted, which ran at the Corkscrew Festival at the Paradise Factory last July, will be remounted on the main stage at Dixon Place on April 15th at 7:30pm. Kayla spent the day filming the lead in a short film “The Bedroom Town,” written and directed by Kathryn Kunkle, as a film project for Fordham University. Kayla played Madison, the daughter of a woman brutally murdered by her husband’s disgruntled employee. Stay tuned for the release of the film!
Kayla is so excited to be playing Ophelia (and others!) in this unique re-imagining of one of the most well-known Shakespearean tragedies. Kayla will be performing in a brand new show, "Our House is Haunted" at the Corkscrew Festival on July 16th! The piece, devised under the direction of Charlotte Murray and Ankita Raturi, is a work in process for which Kayla has been a collaborator the past few months. As the Rep season at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival comes to a close (performing in both The Comedy of Errors and A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Kayla is delighted to be working on the world premiere of a new play, Starstruck, which is a part of this year’s Southern Writers’ Project at ASF. Written by the legendary Lucille Lichtblau, Starstruck follows Eva Goldenberg (played by Kayla) and her family as they navigate the distinction between their fantasies and realities in the midst of World War II and the Holocaust.
